The museum is built on the hillside of Sekihara, Nagaoka City, the hometown of "Kaen Earthenware," and covers a vast area of 10,000 m2. The museum introduces the history and culture of Niigata Prefecture with a focus on Jomon exhibits. Visitors can feel as if they have stepped back in time with a life-size diorama of a snow-covered gangway street in the 1930s and the Jomon people's life in spring, summer, fall, and winter.
