The Niigata Prefectural Museum of History is both a museum of history and folklore that comprehensively introduces the history ・ and folklore of Niigata Prefecture, and a Jomon Museum that widely studies ・ and introduces Jomon culture from a national ・ and global perspective.

「火焔土器」のふるさと、長岡市関原の丘陵に建てられた総面積1万㎡の広大な博物館。縄文展示を中心に新潟県の歴史と文化を紹介しています。昭和30年代の雪国の雁木通りや、縄文人の春夏秋冬の暮らしを実物大のジオラマで復元しており、昔にタイムスリップした気分を味わえます。
